Now celebrating more than a century in business, Dayton has continuously improved materials and manufacturing techniques compared to original wheels. All Dayton wire wheels feature forged center hubs, stainless steel spokes (except painted wheels) and four-layer nickel-chrome plating (again, except painted wheels) on hubs and rims. Silver-painted wheels have painted mild-steel spokes, hubs, and rims. Chrome wheels have polished stainless steel spokes and chromed steel center hubs and rims. XK120 and XK140 came from the factory with 54-spoke wheels, but most owners upgrade to the stronger 60-spoke wheels from the XK150. All Dayton 16″ wheels require tubes.
